Diana as she is now, holds much of herself closer to the chest. the girl who had been before, that had told the network she was an amazon, on a mission to kill Ares, had died around the time Steve Trevor did. now she's trying to find a bit of that girl, it's just easier said than done.

[ there's a beat where he lets that sink in. back home, it wouldn't even be surprising for someone to tell him this, but here...

there's a chance she's messing with him, but she doesn't sound like it, at least not yet. ]

Who is it? Your mom or your dad?

( at least they have that skepticism in common... )

A couple of friends of mine are Zeus kids, too. [ jupiter in jason's case, but whatever close enough. ] They'd be your siblings. And from what I hear from them? That's pretty normal for him.

[ that the gods might be gone in diana's world doesn't even occur to him... ]

He's pretty, uh, hands off with his parenting.

( aww, Percy. it was sweet of you to try and reassure. Diana has only thought occasionally on what it might have been like to know her father. as it is, he is hard to mourn when she never truly knew him. )

In my world, all the old gods were slain before I was born. It was just me. So you knew many demigods?

[ diana asks him a question, but -- ]

Whoa. Whoa. Hold up, all of them? What happened?

A war, between amazons and men, who were blinded by the compulsion of Ares. The gods came to our aid and Ares slew them, one by one.

( which is definitely why she's not a fan of her half brother. )

I do not mean to disturb you. Our worlds are very likely not the same... I'm sorry, I do not know your name.

[phykios]

Ares? No way he could take all of the other gods, and definitely not my dad. That's crazy.

[ if there's any question about his sincerity, he sounds pretty outraged at the idea of another god -- especially ares -- defeating poseidon.

still, he reins it in at her reminder about their worlds. ]

Percy. [ then, ] Perseus, actually.

[ mainly because he wants to know if she'll recognize the name, how different mythologies actually are between their worlds. ]

I am glad to know of a world where that fate is not so.

( she's not offended by his vehemence. if someone had claimed her mother had been slain by someone lesser she'd have loud protest, too. it is just she doesn't have an understanding of gods she never met. )

Perseus. ( there's a smile in her voice. ) The name of a hero. I am glad to meet you. I am Diana of Themyscira. ( it has been long since she's introduced herself like that. )

Definitely not. And to answer your earlier question, yeah, I know a lot of other half-bloods.

[ is it only diana and a bunch of children of ares running around??? a horrible thought. a bunch of clarisses and sherman yangs....

a memory slots into place when she says themyscira, then he says, ]

You're an Amazon, right? Mr. Foster mentioned you. Not the demigod part, but I get now why he said I'd want to meet you.

( good lord, one can only hope not. if Ares had any nieces or nephews running about, she hadn't met them in the century she'd spent in the human world. truth be told, he probably hated humans too much to procreate with one.

she's surprised Bruce would tell someone on her behalf that she was an amazon, considering he had been so determined to teach her a bit of secrecy when she had been running around telling everyone. still, )

I am surprised he didn't arrange the meeting himself. No matter how it happened, I am glad it did.

It has been pretty hectic since I got here.

[ getting shot out of the sky...riots....kidnappings.... he definitely can't say he's been bored. ]

Me too. It's nice to meet someone who [ well. ] gets it.

I have been some seven months now. There are occasional moments of rest between all the chaos.

( they do seem to be getting shorter and shorter by the day, though, truth be told. )

Seven? I think that's the longest I've heard of anyone being here. [ not that he's spent a lot of time asking. it felt kind of pointless since, either way, they're apparently stuck down here. as for the moments of rest: ] No offense, but I'm having a hard time seeing it. Then again, I've only been here, like, two months.

Mine too. Where I come from, demigods look out for each other. I know we just met, but...I want you to know I take that pretty seriously.

[ or they're supposed to look out for each other. it's when they don't that the bad things happen, they go astray. ]

I was one of the first to arrive. ( she's seen the cities come together and fragment all over again since then. and countless faces come out of and return to stasis in the same period.

he can't see her, yet, he can probably hear the hint of smile in her voice. she does not need much in the way of protection, but, ) Amazons take family seriously as well, Perseus. You have my word.

( after a half laugh, ) I also promise not to call you Perseus in public. ( she has a feeling he goes by Percy for a reason. )

I trust you, [ he says, and means it.

but at her comment about his name, he laughs. ]

Thanks. I mean, it's not a big deal, but...Perseus isn't exactly a common name.

[ fewer questions just being introduced as percy, honestly. ]

No, and I imagine a bit formal for most conversations.

( sort of like when she used to introduce herself by all her titles... )

[ since it's mostly immortals who call him perseus, he can't disagree.

he laughs. ]

Yeah, just a little.

Then Percy it is.

( even if she's immortal she can keep up w the kids and their newfangled nicknames!!! )
