[ That is a slightly dorky wave. But he's kind of a dork. And this is a somewhat awkward call as it is. ]
So, uh... I've kind of been holding off on saying hello since we've all kind of been doing our own thing, I think. I've talked to 'Alan' [ That will never stop being weird, never ] but that's business.
Anyway, I don't know if he's mentioned me but my name is Sandy and I'm from a version of your world where things are... whoo, a bit different. But the main thing I guess I'm putting out is that your mom was... kind of like an aunt to me. So this is a little like... I dunno, sort of like getting in touch with distant relatives or something? Something like that.
I'm heading to Olympia but travel's not really a problem if you wanted to... maybe have coffee or something. That could be nice. I feel like the odd man out around here, but I think it's important to remember things. People. Together, when you can.
( she's got to get that out of the way, first, because the rest of it... thinking of her mother, especially, leaves a bit of a hollow ache between her ribs. Hippolyta yet sleeps, and even before Diana arrived here, the distance between her mother and herself had been great. )
I would very much like to meet, yes. Coffee would be wonderful. I have returned to Olympia to help with the restoration, but I can make the time.
I'll leave all the complicated stuff out of it but... your mom came and joined the team that I work with, way back when it first started. She was friends with my mentor, the man who'd taken me in, and we worked together, though, uh... I was just a sidekick at the time.
Polly always had a shine for kids, though. So she looked out for me special, I think.
( a shine for children. Diana can't argue her mother's protective nature nor her fondness for children. you'd have to be, to build your own daughter from clay. )
It sounds like her, though I confess I cannot imagine my mother leaving the island of Themyscira. Do you know how that came to pass?
I do. Though it's a pretty big mess. It had to do with one of your sisters and an incident that involved a number of different universes all similar but different. Some of the worlds combined by the end and one of the results is that your mother fought in World War II with my team.
( her smile reads a little sad at that. it is difficult for her not to be. when push came to shove, her mother had heard of the world warring and chosen to remain in seclusion. it is hard to hear of a version of her that had left when the mother Diana remembers remained, even as the daughter she loved pushed on to complete their duty on her lonesome. )
It is strange to imagine, though I am proud to hear it. I have seen your world at war. It is an awful strife, and I know my mother would have been a boon to your team.
( perhaps all she'd needed was time. Diana cannot say. it is hard to think on. )
She definitely was. Kept the boys in line. She and Black Canary. And she got the Wildcat to stop being such a tomcat.
We were lucky to have her.
[ But that's sort of besides the point- ]
Anyway, the Diana I know is also something of a coworker. We've done Thanksgiving before, anyway. So I guess I was wondering what you were doing for the holidays. If you'd mind me dropping off a gift or anything.
Thanksgiving is a holiday. A lot like Christmas, yeah. There's a whole big meal, usually, shared with friends and family. We hosted at the brownstone most years, the Justice Society and the Justice League.
[ But the offer about Christmas gets a smile out of him. ]
Sure. And we'll have to meet up to exchange them sometime.

Any, hope everything's going well for you.

How is it that you met my mother?

( she is not especially knowledgable about human traditions and holidays, yet. )
I am unsure. You speak of Christmas, do you not? I would welcome a gift if I could grant you one in return.

( none of her friends had informed her of it. those would be who she'd be like to make plans with. as for an exchange, she nods. )
Yes, of course. That would be lovely. What day would be best? Sometime before the eve? ( Christmas Eve, she means. )

I travel fast, so just let me know where to be.

( call her too trusting, but she adds the details to finding her home to the message. )
When you are ready, let me know. As long as we both are, we can meet.

Any time, honestly. My schedule's pretty empty. Not so great at the social thing anymore.

As for gifts... once I find one for you, I will let you know. We can make arrangements then.

Till then, all the best-
Uh, you mind if I just call you Diana?
